The Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Vincent Bagiire, has confirmed that authorities are investigating assault involving members of the ministry’s protocol team.
On Tuesday, video clips circulated widely on social media showing two individuals, believed to be protocol officers, whipping a road user.
Reports suggest the incident followed a confrontation after the individual reportedly scratched one of the protocol vehicles.
The footage has sparked public outrage online, with many calling for swift action against those responsible.
Responding to social media queries on Tuesday evening, Bagiire confirmed that investigations are underway and assured the public that those found culpable would face legal action.
“We are investigating the matter and the culprits will be brought to book,” he said.
Authorities have not yet released the names of those involved, but the ministry says it is committed to ensuring accountability and upholding the law.
